Shenanigans Reactivity Socials

Shenanigans reactivity socials

Reactive social events are held on the last Sunday morning of each month in various locations within the Nottinghamshire region of England. The cost per dog is £30.

The training walks are specifically designed for overly friendly and reactive dogs.

Please sign up to our newsletter to get updates of future social walks and check out my events page for updated calendar entries.

Please fill out the Reactivity training walk form if you've not attended before and signed one of my forms in the past.

What’s Included:

  1. The reactivity training walk is designed to last up to two hours. Training commences at the halfway point, where participants will engage in lead training exercises tailored to their dogs’ specific behaviours.
  2. Participants are paired up for the walk to the halfway point, making it suitable for reactive and overly friendly dogs.
  3. A private WhatsApp group is established monthly, and individuals are added to the group each month. Updates leading up to the walk are posted a few days prior. This allows participants to exchange contact information if they become acquainted with someone during the walk.
  4. Prior to the start of the walk, an exercise demonstrating the correct way to hold a dog’s lead for maximum control is presented to the group. This exercise will also serve as a buffer period, allowing up to 10 minutes of lateness before the walk commences.
  5. Participants are not obligated to remain for the walk back to the designated parking area if they have not parked there or need to depart earlier than the estimated return time. This flexibility ensures that participants who wish to leave immediately after the training session can do so without feeling compelled to stay and attend subsequent events.

Requirements for Participants:

  1. Please bring your dog’s preferred treats (high-value), treats, or any other treats they enjoy, such as toys or verbal praise.
  2. Additionally, bring enough water and a collapsible bowl. While a solid bowl is acceptable, collapsible bowls are more space-saving.
  3. Wear comfortable shoes, walking boots, or wellies, as the terrain, weather, and elevation may vary during our walks. These footwear options are essential for safety and comfort, as they may not always be pram, wheelchair, or mobility scooter-friendly.
  4. Remember to bring a drink for yourself to stay hydrated, as the walks can be on inclines.
  5. Each participant is permitted to bring up to two dogs per owner (provided that you can safely manage two dogs). If you cannot safely manage two dogs, you may bring only one dog per owner.
  6. It is important to note that everyone is different, and there is nothing wrong with that. I can safely manage five or more dogs that I have trained, so if someone needs additional assistance, I may be willing to take their dog for a brief moment to demonstrate some techniques.
  7. Feel free to bring children, partners, or friends if you would like additional support, as the limited spaces are designed for the dogs.

Additional information:

What Not to Bring:

Please refrain from bringing any extendable or retractable leads. The maximum length allowed is four to six feet.

We do not condone any judgments regarding training methods, tools employed, or the behaviour of dogs. We have encountered a diverse range of dogs, including muzzled, vocal, barking, nervous, and pulling dogs.

Absolutely no judgments are permitted regarding our walks or any other aspect of the experience. If you feel compelled to make judgments, your presence is not welcome.

This is a safe and inclusive environment for all attendees. Breed discrimination is strictly prohibited, including for banned breeds.

Disclaimer:

Photographs taken during my walks are permitted for personal use, social media sharing, and advertising purposes. Prior to each walk, a WhatsApp group is established to identify individuals who prefer not to be photographed. Consequently, any photographs or videos taken before their publication are shared with the WhatsApp group or myself for review.

The walks are suspended from October to February. The final walk of the year is scheduled for August, and the first walk of the year is scheduled for February.

Refunds:

Refunds are not provided for the social walks. However, if 48-hour notice is given a reschedule will be honoured.
